Tonight I got the amazing opportunity to go to a Filipino cultural dance program at a restaurant called Barbara's. The group performed a variety of songs and dances, including some from their Spanish colonial heritage and others that are uniquely Filipino!
In this case, I think a picture really is worth a thousand words, so here they are:

ReplyDeleteA few people from our group did, but they didn't pick me! I guess they could tell that I'm uncoordinated :)
DeleteThe dancers were all very young and incredibly talented! Filipino people really value the arts and their traditions. I was glad that we got to see this!

ReplyDeleteHi AnnaKate! That's a good question! They didn't really tell us. I know that most of the clothes were really influenced by the Spanish, so maybe it's a Spanish word.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, but they all seemed very young to me. Maybe even teens or twenties. They are excellent at what they do!
